The Newcastle Gallery Collective, NSW, Australia was formed in 2014 when Barbara Nanshe of Nanshe Studio Gallery and Ahn Wells, the current Director of Newcastle Art Space decided to work together, in order to exhibit a collaborative exhibition between Nanshe Studio Gallery and Newcastle Art Space. During initial conversations, both Barbara and Ahn were keen to involve other galleries, so it was decided to approach Jo Chisholm-Ray, Director of cstudios Art Gallery and Vicki Gerristen, representing four point gallery to be involved due their close geographical location.

The NGC will be presenting their first collaborative exhibition across the four (4) galleries starting in February 2015. Twelve Newcastle Artists have been invited to participate in this inaugural exhibition, SMALL MEDIUM LARGE, nominated by each gallery representative and approved by the collective. Artist were chosen for their innovative artmaking approach, their consistent high quality artworks and their professional approach to their art practice. This exhibition is sure to be the start of an exciting ongoing collaboration between the four founding members.
