For the last few years, I have had the chance to spend time in the studio to play and to draw, paint and only think about the moment of making, not the final artwork. It has been the driving force behind the making and experimentation that has gone into these works. The autonomy to play with different materials and the ability to remove my own expectations from the final artwork has allowed me to produce a collection of works that has been freeing and a surprising way to find new marks, make layers and play with composition.

The opportunity to exhibit these works has come about in the last few months and has meant collating them together and editing them with a purpose. This has really cemented by journey and I think will end up taking the making of my art into a new direction. This is my first solo exhibition in five years. 

The making of these works has been made possible because of family and all the title of the works come from those relationships and thinking about the people most important to me. My work can be viewed as abstraction but it highly personal and always about home, family and my identity.
